The Ethereal Effect
The effect in this photoshop tutorial can be very cool if used creatively either by itself or as part of a larger process. Its also one of the easiest things in the world of Adobe Photoshop to accomplish. Try using it in sbtle ways ona family photograph to give a soft glow to someones skin and give that photograph that little extra touch.

1:
You will need an image or photograph, I chose this photo of Jackie. |
| |
|
2
Add a strong gaussian blur filter effect
I have entered 7.6 pixels but this may vary on the image resolution you have set - use a higher pixel setting for higher resolutions.
|
| |
|
3
Fade gaussian blur.
(shift + ctrl + F) - keep at 100% but set mode to screen. |
| |
| |
Step 4:
Repeat gaussian blur (ctrl+F)
That's right we are going to blur this image again. So repeat step 2.
|
| |
|
Step 5:
Repeat Fade
However, instead of setting the mode to screen set it to soft light. Voila! Instant ethereal effect (Fig. 4)
